จากกรณีที่เกิดไฟไหม้เรือหลวงคีรีรัตน์
หมายเลข 432 สังกัดกองเรือฟริเกตที่ 1 กองเรือยุทธการ
หลังเกิดเสียงระเบิดดังขึ้นขณะจอดเทียบท่าทึ่ท่าเรือแหลมเทียน ฐานทัพเรือสัตหีบ
อ.สัตหีบ จ.ชลบุรี ซึ่งเรือหลวงดังกล่าวเป็นเรือรบฟริเกต ที่มีสมรรถนะในการรบได้ใน
3 มิติ ทั้งทางอากาศ ผิวน้ำ และใต้น้ำ และได้รับใช้กองทัพเรือและประเทศชาติยาวนาน
50 ปี ปัจจุบันมี นาวาโทพิรัล สำอางคศรี เป็นผู้บังคับการเรือ

เปิดเผยถึง กรณีเหตุเพลิงไหม้เรือหลวงคีรีรัฐ ว่า เหตุการณ์ดังกล่าว ผู้บัญชาการทหารเรือ
สั่งสอบหาสาเหตุและแจ้งให้ทราบภายใน 3 วัน ในเบื้องต้นพบว่ามาจากกระสุนปืนขนาด 76
มิลลิเมตร ของเรือหลวงชลบุรี ซึ่งเกิดการขัดข้องและติดค้างอยู่ในตัวปืนขณะทำการฝึกในทะเล
เรือหลวงชลบุรี ได้ดำเนินการป้องกันอันตรายเบื้องต้น และแล่นเข้าจอดเทียบท่าเรือ
และให้เจ้าหน้าที่ช่างปืนมาดำเนินการแก้ไขปัญหา แต่เกิดเหตุลั่นขณะดำเนินการแก้ไข
จนทำให้เรือหลวงคีรีรัฐ ได้รับความเสียหาย บริเวณท้ายเรือเล็กน้อย
แต่เรือยังคงมีขีดความสามารถในการปฏิบัติการได้
และไม่มีผู้เสียชีวิตจากเหตุการณ์ดังกล่าว
แต่พบว่ามีผู้ได้รับบาดเจ็บจำนวน 14
ราย ส่วนมากเกิดจากการสำลักควันไฟ
โดยได้นำผู้บาดเจ็บทั้งหมดส่งโรงพยาบาลสมเด็จพระนางเจ้าสิริกิติ์ กรมแพทย์ทหารเรือ
ในทันทีที่เกิดเหตุ และเฝ้าระวังอาการของผู้บาดเจ็บอย่างใกล้ชิด และจากเหตุการณ์ดังกล่าวยังทำให้มีกำลังพลชั้นยศจ่า
และพันจ่า ได้รับบาดเจ็บรวม 9 นาย ประกอบด้วย

(PF-432) รับใช้กองทัพเรือ และประเทศชาติมาถึง 50 ปี
แม้จะใช้งานมานาน แต่ก็ยังเป็นเรือที่มีความสามารถในการรบทั้ง 3 มิติ ทางด้านอากาศ
ผิวน้ำ และใต้น้ำได้เป็นอย่างดี มีกำลังพลประจำเรือที่มากด้วยประสบการณ์
สามารถถ่ายทอดวิชาทางการเรือให้กับทหารเรือรุ่นใหม่ได้เป็นอย่างดี
ทั้งนักเรียนนายเรือ และนักเรียนจ่าทหารเรือที่มาฝึกภาคปฏิบัติในทะเลเป็นประจำ เป็นเรือประเภทเรือฟริเกต
หมายเลขเรือ 432 กองทัพเรือไทยได้สั่งต่อเรือจากบริษัท Norfolk
Shipbuilding & Drydock Corporration ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา
เมื่อปี 2514 และวางกระดูกงูเมื่อวันที่ 18 ก.พ.2515 ขึ้นระวางประจำการเมื่อวันที่
10 ส.ค.2517 ความยาวตลอดลำเรือ 82.5 เมตร กว้าง 9.9 เมตร มีระวางขับน้ำสูงสุด
1,172 ตัน มีระวางขับน้ำเต็มที่ 1,138 ตัน มีอาวุธประจำเรือ ประกอบด้วย
ปืนใหญ่เรือ OTO Melara 76/62 Compact ขนาด
76 มม./62 คาลิเบอร์ ปืนใหญ่กล Breda/Bofors Type 107 ขนาด
40 มม./70 คาลิเบอร์ ปืนใหญ่กล Rheinmetall Mk 20 DM6 ขนาด 20 มม./85 คาลิเบอร์ ปืนกล U.S. Ordnance M2HB

ในท่าจอดเรือของกรมสรรพาวุธ ใครที่รักทหารเรือและศรัทธาในความเป็นสุภาพบุรุษนาวี
คงต้องร่วมกันส่งกำลังใจให้พลเรือเอกอะดุง พันธุ์เอี่ยม ผู้บัญชาการทหารเรือ
ซึ่งเหลือเวลาอีกเพียง 6 เดือนเศษ ก็จะพ้นหน้าที่ให้นำพา
กองทัพเรือฝ่าฟันเรื่องร้าย ๆ ไปให้ได้ในท้ายที่สุดทุกประการ
